@Jeff, thanks for the comments. I was mulling over some of the same ideas. I think we are living in an unprecedented time where people are ripe for a Savior. Now is the time that we should be mobilized. Now is the time that we should be seeking to save the lost. Fact of the matter is, I think now more than ever before PEOPLE KNOW THEY ARE LOST! Half of the 'work' is done. I was thinking about doing a post on just this...but seems like we've covered it.

@Bill B You may be in a minority. I'm not sure. Neither candidate that ended up being our "choice" was the candidate that I would have chosen. I'm saddened that your son was told that. The religious right often gets a bit off kilter in their judgment calls. I'm guilty as well. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the mobilization of troops, so to speak. The question is how do we do it. One person at a time. If you and I can just get one person to think about the things that we've talked about here, then they get one person, and so on, the resulting multiplication is outstanding!

Thanks for the thoughts.

I get the sense that I am in the minority of my Christian brothers and sister by casting my vote for Obama. Truth be told, my son was told that it would be unchristian to vote for Obama. Focus on the Family made it quite clear what they thought about a future with Barak Obama as President of the United States.

Yet I am with you in regards to knowing Who REALLY is in control. God's Will will be done no matter who sits in the office of the Presidency.

But that doesn't take us off the hook. Jesus-followers, more commonly called the Church, need to get out in their communities and live this Kingdom life we claim. Barak Obama talks of 'change', but it is only when hearts change that this world will become a better place. 'Jesus is the answer' is good bumper sticker fodder, but instead of displaying this on the bumpers of our cars, let's display it in our day-to-day life.

I am optimistic and hopeful about the future of the United States. This optimism and hope isn't so much because Barak Obama won the election, but because I see a movement of Christians who are getting outside the four-walls of their church building and are taking their faith into the streets.

A thought provoking post. I wonder how many people look to government to solve their problems simply because they see that 'The Church' is failing to look after orphans, widows, and other needed people in society. Does the inaction of the Church to help others direct people to look elsewhere for real help? Does this then make them seek 'salvation' by another means than the one by which Christ has given us?

I am 44 years old and STILL am not sure what I want to be when I 'grow-up'. I will say (in regards to what Bill Wheeler said about 'bloom where you are planted) that for all the BS(can I write that?) I have spouted, all these years; it isn't for lack of fertilizer that I haven't 'flowered'.

I think I have come a long way in the last couple of years, thanks to my Family at Journey Church and God's grace. I have taken the focus off of what career I can do to 'change the world' and instead have focused on 'changing me'. I have had these high ideals of making the world a better place, but have found that the best course of action to accomplish that is to, first, be the best I can be. If I am to be used as a 'tool' for the Lord, then I need to make sure that I am an 'instrument' in tip-top shape, spiritually. Also, I need to make a positive impact in my neighborhood before I tackle the world.

Sorry for the long comment. Hope you and the family are well.

Tony, I think you hit it right on the head. That seems to me to be what life is all about. At least the Christian life. The old "bloom where you are planted" thing.

I will admit that there was a time when I was a full-fledged Republican and an everyday listener to Rush Limbaugh. I will credit Ruch Limbaugh with teaching me to think for myself and not let others decide matters for me.

I am pro-life, but agree that we need to be concerned with life AFTER birth and not only the issue of abortion.

At one time, I had said if Hilary Clinton was ever voted into the office of President; I would leave the country. Now she might just call my bluff!! Seriously, in looking at the LEGITIMATE choices we may have(Clinton or Obama and McCain), I can't vote for any of them and won't.

The fact remains that for all this 'change' they espouse; the ONLY change we ever get is a different party in office. These candidates promise the moon to get your vote and have next to no chance of delivering on these promises. (There is that 'little obstacle' called Congress.)

Change will only happen by everyday people, like you and I, getting out in the neighborhoods and DOING SOMETHING. If we continue to wait for politicians to do something, then we will continue to wait.

Scott,

Thanks for dropping by. I am a person of faith, which I think is one of the primary reasons why it may sound as if I am 'resentful' of people of faith. It isn't really that I resent 'people of faith' as much as I hope and pray that people would broaden their horizons and not simply be sheep. I know that many people are informed and one of the reaons that I rant about the uninformed is because I personally spent a long time as an uninformed voter.

I'm not against Huck, I just don't want a repeat of the GW era. It seemed as though people voted for him because of his religious views. I was one of them. I don't regret voting for him by any means because I certainly wouldn't have wanted to have Kerry for prez.

The war on terror may never be won. But I do agree that it is a worthwhile cause. Bankrupting our nation by going at it alone may not be the answer, however.

I really don't mean to come across as anti-people of faith, I'm just tired of hearing the arguments that people around me pose for voting for Huck or someone else. My friend Jeff Bristow (www.thebristows.com) has written many compelling articles in support of Huckabee...head on over and check it.

Thanks again for dropping by.
