Leadership Experience

Spent the last few days with a group of other people from Journey Church taking part in a really cool leadership experience. The dream and the goal of this experience is to help one local church, for one full year raise their leaders up to be better leaders, invest in the mission and vision of the local church so that it has the best chance of growing and reaching it’s dreams and goals. This whole experience is being underwritten by a dude who has a huge passion for organizational leadership and loves the local church. His heart breaks for the hurting and disconnected and he sees the local church as a major catalyst in reaching out to these people. I’m thankful for his passion and his families investment both financially and emotionally in this project.

We spent a lot of time really talking about the mechanism of our church. Being a church nerd, I loved listening to what everyone else was thinking and feeling. On one hand it hurts to see the areas that we are falling short because that means that we haven’t done some things right. On the other hand, it is great that we have now identified these areas and will be moving forward with an actual plan and deadline. I’m looking forward to being a part of the solution in these areas.

One of the interesting aspects of this experience was seeing how each person has developed over the past couple of years that I have been a part of Journey. There has been tremendous growth as leaders and as Christ followers. I am honestly thankful to be able to be part of a team that is moving forward and growing individually and corporately. I’m excited to see how this next year plays out in the life of the church. As we become better leaders and more devoted Christ followers, God will use us to do things that we can’t even dream of right now. Pretty sweet!

Part of this experience is having personal coaching sessions. Angie Ward from Forward Leadership will be working with us indiviudally and corporately to help us develop in many ways. I’m looking forward to working with Angie and honestly working on the areas that need improvement in myself.

Anyway..we had a great time of learning, eating and bat fighting. Thanks, y’all!
